Throughout my career I was amazed at how quickly the people who sat in my chair opened up about their lives. It was almost instantaneous how readily they shared their deepest secrets, desires, and fears. And, it never ceased to amaze me, all of the things they thought I could accomplish with my shears and color brush. “Make me look taller and, or thinner. Help me get the job, the guy or the girl.” Or, “Help me get rid of the guy!” I felt that the salon was a sacred space where you could truly “let your hair down”. My salon guests were with me for every important event in their lives, from their first haircut, to their first dance, their proms, graduations and weddings, first jobs, and their first child, and yes, even their loved ones illnesses and funerals. I was there for them, along with all the other salon professionals from all over the world.

This blog shares the fun, incredible happenings in the salon, as well as some more heart wrenching tales. Rest assured there’s no tell-all gossip, and names are changed to protect the innocent and unassuming clientele when necessary.

I’ve always had a special place in my heart for butterflies, and feel honored whenever they grace my presence. The transformation that happens with a hair color and style makeover reminds me of the metamorphosis of a caterpillar changing into the wondrous beauty of a butterfly. I have witnessed countless times the powerful difference these changes can make in someone. I am sharing some of those incredible stories, and the amazing impact a subtle trim or dramatic color shift creates.

I retired recently, from my longstanding career that I loved and cherished, to devote my time to my writing and my new passion, Transformational Coaching. I’ve spent a large portion of my life learning about personal development and growth. While I was still standing behind the chair, with my arms in the air, and a smile on my face by day, I was spending countless hours during my time off in an intensive coach training process.

Right away I knew I had chosen exactly what I needed. I could go on working in the salon for as long as I wanted. But, I was ready to do more, to give back, reach out and help people, and still have time for other life experiences. My years of working with people within the sanctity of the styling chair had more than prepared me for my new career in coaching. I had after all been giving advice and guidance to my beloved clients for many years. Now I am witnessing amazing  transformation, and true inner metamorphosis,  as I show people how to uncover their hidden blocks to success, standing in their power, and realizing their dreams of health, wealth and happiness.
